Foundations for Strong Families and Supportive Communities is a Biblically informed pre-licensing course approved by the State of Florida for foster and adoptive parents. This training aims to equip potential foster parents with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively care and advocate for foster children.
Throughout this course, participants will learn about the Florida foster care system, trauma and its effects, how to positively manage behaviors, and how to advocate for the best interest of foster children. By completing this course, participants will have the ability to provide high-quality parenting that meets the individual needs of diverse children and help them achieve safe and stable permanency.
Over 7 weeks, you will complete 27 hours of content 100% online. You will be asked to review information, complete assignments on your own, and upload them to our learning management system for our instructors to review. Once a week, you will be required to attend a live 3-hour facilitated discussion via Zoom regarding the past week's content.
This course runs seven (7) consecutive Tuesdays beginning on Tuesday, January 14th from 7 to 10 p.m.
